Peer tutoring is provided by graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Linguistics.

After booking an appointment online, students will receive a follow up email from their tutor confirming the session date, time, and location. Both students and tutors are expected to arrive on time. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, you will need to reschedule your session.

Please come to the session with an idea of what you would like to work on. The tutoring session is self-directed, so the tutor will not prepare any activities prior to the session. The tutor will begin the session by asking what you would like to accomplish in the allotted time. In order to best assist you, they will also ask for details about whatever assignments you are working on. Tutors will not complete your work for you.

Please note that our tutors can help you understand US academic culture and refine your English skills for assignments, but they are not prepared to answer questions specific to your major or field of study.

This is a free resource for undergraduate students wanting to improve their English. Our tutors can assist with things such as proofreading essays, explaining grammar points, and giving feedback on oral presentations. Please add notes while booking so our tutors know what you’d like to work on during your session, including any specific assignment requirements and your learning priorities.
You can choose between a 30 or 50 minute session. If you feel that you will need more time, you can book multiple sessions back-to-back or send an email to intltutoring@colorado.edu.
If you are running a few minutes late, email your tutor to let them know. If you are more than 15 minutes late, please reschedule your session for another time. If you no longer wish to attend your session please cancel it by following the link in the calendar invite.
Both in-person and virtual tutoring services are available.

If you select the virtual option, you will receive a Teams videoconferencing link as soon as your tutor confirms the appointment.

If you select the in-person option, you will receive an email from your tutor confirming the appointment date and time as well as where to meet. If you have a preference for a specific campus location, please indicate that in your notes while scheduling. If not, your appointment will be scheduled to take place at the UMC.

If you are busy during the times listed, please send an email to intltutoring@colorado.edu with your availability and a brief note about what you’d like to work on.
The more notice the better, but you are able to book up to 24 hours before the requested session.
Currently registered undergraduate and graduate students in any CU Boulder School or Department may attend up to 4 tutoring sessions per semester.
