Terri Bissonette

Terri Bissonette, EdD, an enrolled citizen of the Gnoozhekaaning Anishinaabe, is the Director of Tribal Leadership Development Programs at the National Wildlife Federation. A lifelong educator and advocate, she brings over 20 years of experience in Indigenous education, curriculum design, and leadership development. Her work centers on Tribal capacity building, environmental stewardship, and the integration of traditional ecological knowledge with modern conservation practices. She has led watershed education initiatives and partnered with organizations such as Trouts Unlimited and Colorado Parks & Wildlife to create meaningful land and water based learning experiences for Native youth.
Dr. Bissonette holds a doctorate in K–12 Curriculum & Instruction and has deep expertise in Tribal governance, sovereignty, and Federal Indian policy. She is passionate about intergenerational learning and building pathways for leadership development that are grounded in culture, community, and connection to land.
