Carlene Yellowhair

I am the Tribal President of the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe, having served from 2016 to 2020. During my tenure, I oversaw the development of the Tribal Law and Order Codes, Policies, and Procedures. The most fulfilling aspect of my role was establishing the foundation for the Tribe’s Executive and Administration infrastructure. Despite the demanding nature of the position, I found great satisfaction in demonstrating my commitment to my people.

Following my term as Tribal President, I engaged in collaborative efforts with Coconino County and the United States Department of Agriculture. I was re-elected to office on March 3, 2025, and continue to build upon the progress made during my previous tenure. I remain steadfast in my dedication to the San Juan Paiute People and their sovereignty.

Although I had not previously considered running for Sovereign Nation, I embarked on this journey with passion and unwavering support. As Indigenous Peoples, it is imperative that we safeguard our ancestral lands and waters, which are entrusted to us by Mother Earth. Together, we possess the capacity to achieve remarkable accomplishments.
