Abstract: 

Within the past decade, the importance of renewable energy has risen enormously. Today, more electric energy is produced from renewable sources than from nuclear power in Germany as well as in the US. In this talk, the idea of optimizing Savonius wind turbines by means of full computer-aided engineering is explained and a numerical method for the simulation of the fluid flow is presented.
