Applied Nonlinear PDEs and Dynamics

Many fundamental and important physical problems in science and engineering involve the solution of nonlinear differential equations.  Our faculty do research on nonlinear problems in wave phenomena, dynamical systems, partial differential equations, and network science. Application areas include numerous branches of physics such as fluid dynamics, condensed matter, optics, and plasma as well as social and physical networks.

Courses in this area include dynamical systems, nonlinear waves, partial differential equations, asymptotic methods, and advanced seminar courses.  Research talks in this field are regularly offered in the Dynamics Seminar and the Nonlinear Waves Seminar.
