Applied Math lecturer Silva Chang has been named the 2014 Educator of the Year by the Colorado chapter of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE-CO) for her outreach work. Ms. Chang is the founder and director of the Colorado Math Circle which provides math enrichment to advanced high school and middle school students. With the goal of increasing interest in math among young students, the math circle offers math talks and problem solving sessions at CU-Boulder during the academic year and weeklong math workshops during the summer. Guest speakers have included Professor James Meiss, Assistant Professor Juan Restrepo, and Associate Chair Anne Dougherty.  The award was presented on July 31 at the NSPE-CO annual dinner.
