Requirements for Admission
The courses listed below are offered by the SLHS Department of CU Boulder. Equivalent courses from other universities will also meet this requirement, if approved by the program director. These requirements are consistent with the Colorado Department of Education SLPA Authorization.
Prerequisites or “Leveling” Coursework
LING 3100 Sound Structure of Language (3) or SLHS 3006 Phonetics (3)
SLHS 3106 Hearing Science (3 credits)
SLHS 3116 Speech Science (3 credits)
SLHS 4502 Language Disorders: Child and Adult (3 credits)
SLHS 4512 Speech Disorders: Voice, Cleft, Motor, Stuttering (3 credits)
SLHS 4560 Language Development (3 credits)
SLHS 4704 Audiological Evaluation (3 credits)
SLHS 4714 Audiological Rehabilitation (3 credits)
SLHS 4918/5018: Introduction to Clinical Practice (or documentation of 25 hours of observation of ASHA-certified SLPs).
*No more than two of the classes above may be taken concurrently with the SLPA internship and course.
