Special Edition-Bike To Work Day Newsletter

Traditionally celebrated in June, Bike and Walk Month offers more than 60 free events that bring Boulder’s community together. The month-long celebration is highlighted by Bike to Work Day (coming on September 22 this year, although typically held on the 3rd Wednesday of June).

Overview

Tune up your bike and leave your car at home for Bike to Work Day! This fun annual event is coming on Wednesday Sept. 22, and CU is celebrating with two breakfast stations. Join us in front of the Recreation Center or on East Campus at the North side of the BioTech building from 7-9 am for free burritos, trivia, prizes and more. Let us know you'll be out there: Pledge to ride.

Tips and Tricks

Tune Up Your Bike

Visit a CU Bike Station where a mechanic can get you set up before the big day.

Many participants visit a Bike to Work Day table in front the CU Rec Center.

Plan Your Route

To get the most out of this event, plan your route ahead of time in order to hit up multiple breakfast stations. A map of all the breakfast stations can be found here.

Keep Your Bike Safe

Make sure to use a u-lock, and lock your bike frame and front wheel to the bike rack.

Fix a Flat Tire

Rather be in person? Community Cycles will be hosting a free workshop on Friday, September 25th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.

Guided Rides

Not sure what route to take? Community Cycles will be offering planned rides led by an experienced cyclist. For completing the ride (all routes will end at Community Cycles), participants receive a free bike tool, socks, bike lights, or bells.

Last month’s trivia answer: CU Boulder provides around 14,000 bike parking spaces. Additionally, employees and students have access to two secure bike shelters. They are located near the UMC and ARCE building, respectively.
