‘Welcome to the familia’. It’s a greeting that welcomed Erika Antunez (IntDesEngr’24) when she first joined CU Boulder’s chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers as a first-year student. Familia takes on a whole new meaning for Antunez and her own family. “My parents worked so hard to give my sister and I a better life,” said Antunez.
Robert Wang (IDE'25) participated in the Discovery Learning Apprenticeship (DLA) program at CU Boulder in the summer of 2023. He did research on the benefits of interdisciplinary engineering education programs similar to his own major, Integrated Design Engineering.
A new PhD program in engineering education will be offered at the University of Colorado Boulder beginning in the 2024-2025 academic school year, allowing students to pursue research and learning opportunities while strengthening the undergraduate engineering program. [External link]
The Engineering Education and AI-Augmented Learning Interdisciplinary Research Theme, co-directed by Angela Bielefeldt awarded multiple seed grants this spring to help spur research teaming in the college and boost early projects with the high potential for societal impact.
Emi Szabo (IntDesEngr'23) was recognized with a Community Impact Award by the College of Engineering and Applied Science for improving their department and the college by providing excellent service and dedication to both Integrated Design Engineering and the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering (CEAE).
Yamelit Medina-Lopez wasn't sure if she should even pursue engineering. Now, through the support of her communities, hard work and by taking care of herself, she's graduating as a Ball Aerospace manufacturing engineer and community leader.
Teaching Associate Professor Mike Soltys was selected as the 2023 winner of the Charles A. Hutchinson Memorial Teaching Award, which recognizes faculty who have made outstanding contributions to teaching.
