Mona El Helbawy

Mona El Helbawy received her master’s degree in computer science and PhD degree in computational electromagnetics from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Prior to joining the Department of Computer Science, she served as the associate chair for undergraduate education in the Department of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at CU Boulder. Prior to that, she taught at Colorado School of Mines, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, the College of New Jersey, and York College of Pennsylvania. She also taught abroad at John Cabot University in Rome, Beijing University of Chemical Technology in Beijing, and University of Ha’il in Saudi Arabia.

El Helbawy is a senior member of IEEE, serves as the vice chair of the IEEE Denver Section, is the 2024 & 2025 ASEE RMS Conference chair, and is an associate editor-in-chief for the Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES) journal.
