Physics Concentration (13 credit hours)
Develop an enhanced understanding of the interrelationship between physics, math and engineering.
Minor Option
Students wishing to complete a Physics Minor may need to complete additional coursework. Please see the Physics Minor website for details.
Curriculum
Required Courses (7 cr)
- PHYS 2150 - Experimental Modern Physics (1 Credit)
- PHYS 2170 - Foundations of Modern Physics (3 Credits) or PHYS 2130 - Introduction to Quantum Mechanics and its Applications (3 Credits)
- PHYS 2210 - Classical Mechanics & Mathematical Methods 1 (3 Credits)
Choose two Elective Courses (6 cr)
- Choose at least 6 credits of upper-division (3000+) PHYS courses, with the following exceptions:
- The following courses are ineligible for the Physics Concentration because they closely overlap other engineering courses:
- PHYS 3330 (3) Electronics for the Physical Sciences
- PHYS 4230 (3) Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics
- Many upper-division courses do not count towards the Physics Minor. Students interested in the Physics Minor may submit a petition with their Physics Minor advisor to have upper-level courses not listed on the Physics Minor webpage approved towards the minor.
