Build toward a degree using Prior Learning Credit (PLC)

When you complete the DeepLearning.AI specialization, you can earn credit toward the MS-DS degree, if you are an admitted student.

No, you will receive credit for these courses as electives, but your grades will not be factored into your GPA. You do need to pass the specialization to get credit for the courses.  

Admitted DS students are eligible as long as you have not already fulfilled your 6 outside electives. 

From Coursera, you will enroll and complete the courses on the DeepLearning.AI page. You will need to pay the Coursera Plus subscription in order to access these courses.  

You will need to complete a request form where you will need to submit your completion certificate. 

You will need to submit the request form at least three weeks before the end of the session in which you plan to graduate in order for the credit to be applied to your transcript in time. However, we recommend filling out the form as soon as you have the completion certificate. 

Yes. We can only apply your DeepLearning.AI certificate as credit that has been completed within the last 8 years.

These courses are not available within CU on Coursera. 

Admitted students who have completed the DeepLearning.AI specialization can count these courses as 3 outside elective credits towards the MS-DS degree.  

Yes, these courses are considered outside electives. Keep in mind that students are allowed to take up to 6 outside electives towards their 9 total MS-DS required electives. 

No, you need to complete all 5 courses within the specialization.

No, the DeepLearning.AI specialization only applies to the MS-DS degree.  

The specialization is rated “intermediate level” by the instructors, and they recommend that learners have the following background knowledge: 

  • Intermediate Python skills: basic programming, understanding of for loops, if/else statements, data structures 
  • A basic grasp of linear algebra & machine learning
