Primary Care Doctor, Denver Health • PLC 2005

Degree(s): MCDB/Psychology

Professional background, interests and expertise: I grew up in western Colorado in the small town of Cedaredge. After graduating from CU Boulder in 2009, I was fortunate to stay in state at nearby University of Colorado School of Medicine. I completed a combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics and now work as a primary care doctor at Denver Health. I am currently heavily involved in the Internal Medicine/Pediatrics combined residency program and in medical student and resident medical education.

I'm married to another resident physician, Brooke. We live in Denver and enjoy being active, camping, hut trips in the winter, and spending time seeing shows at Red Rocks and DCPA.

Hours available for mentoring per month: 5-10

Best professional advice: Go for it! I heard many times along the way that being a physician "isn't what it used to be." Not sure where that came from; I love my job - patient care, the complex nature of disease, and ongoing learning. Find good people to encourage/motivate you, and work on planning several years ahead in order to achieve your goals.

What does mentorship mean to you? I think mentorship comes in many forms and levels of engagement from both the mentor and mentee. It is best within the context of a longitudinal relationship where the goals are clear. In this context through PLC mentorship, I think the ultimate focus is on guiding and being a resource in the short and long term career development of the mentee.
