I am a senior majoring in International Affairs and minoring in Leadership Studies, with the hope of becoming a clinical psychologist and working with refugees. As a proud second generation American Muslim, I never saw myself reflected in the leaders that I was taught to study, none of whom were women, much less women of color, and especially not Muslim women of color. Throughout my time in PLC I have been able to learn about different leaders who fit with the social change model of leadership and who I have modeled my own leadership style after. I have also had the opportunity to research the refugee mental health crisis in PLC classes and doing so has only deepened my passion and commitment for working towards a more equitable future. PLC has provided me with the opportunities to pursue my passion and I will forever be grateful for that.
