Professional background, interests and expertise: I work for a real estate investment firm that invests directly into real estate (hotels, office buildings, single family for rent, etc.) and real estate securities (REITs, homebuilders, real estate c-corps). My primary job is to allocate capital within the real estate securities business. It's the only post-college job I've ever had, and feel super lucky to land somewhere that has a platform that has let me grow into the professional I am today.

Best professional advice: Choose something else. J/k. Academically, go to class and read the assigned materials. Sometimes it's the simple things. Professionally, life is too short to have bad partners, make sure you find good partners because it will be more fun in the good times, less terrible in the bad times, and much more sustainable over time. It's a marathon, not a sprint!
