Alexandra Alonso
Community Liaison & Constituent Advocate for U.S. Senator Michael Bennet • PLC 2006

Degree(s): BA in Communications (minor in EPOB), MPA in Nonprofit Leadership, State and Local Government

Professional background, interests and expertise: My path to my current position doing work that I love was not a linear one. PLC afforded me opportunities to have great internships in the Marketing Department of the Holland & Hart law firm and the Culture & Language Department of Chipotle headquarters. I moved to Florida and worked in
hospitality for four years then moved back to Denver where I ran the internship program at the Denver Post. I started at CLLARO as a volunteer, then interned at the Colorado Department of Higher Education (while working full time at The Post) and was fortunately offered a position as CLLARO's Program Manager. I recently applied for and was appointed to the Executive Director of CLLARO.

My interests are diverse leadership development, educational equity, increasing mental health awareness and anything related to music and dancing.

Best professional advice: Find your passion, find a non-profit that aligns with that passion and if you can't find a nonprofit that has the kind of impact you want to work towards, then start your own. Also, there's not nearly enough diversity in nonprofit leadership. Let's fix that. I can help.
