When you submit your application, your mentor will receive an email with a unique link to access the Mentor Endorsement form.
Your application will be reviewed 2-4 weeks after the endorsement is completed, and PACE staff may follow up as needed.
Decision notices are sent from urop@colorado.edu and may require additional compliance steps—if travelling internationally.
Applicants must be a degree-seeking undergraduates at CU Boulder planning to present, perform or exhibit a project supervised by an eligible mentor. Due to university travel guidelines, all applicants must be at least 18-years-old to apply.
CU Boulder and Anschutz Medical Campus faculty, instructors, staff, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students are eligible to serve as mentors on PACE applications.
Students can apply as soon as they are accepted to present, perform or exhibit their work—but no later than the start of the event. Students cannot receive PACE funding for events occurring after they graduate. Keep in mind that applications received close to the event start date might be processed and awarded after the event.
CU Boulder faculty, instructors, staff, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students are eligible to serve as mentors on PACE applications.
Emergency Information
If planning international travel, students must complete the International Travel Registration process as stipulated in the Policy on Student International Travel and Programs.
Students are responsible for paying the cost of the program and all related fees directly. PACE recommends starting the process no later than 3 months prior to departure.

COVID-19 Policy
Travelers are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with the decision made by the University of Colorado. Due to the continued fluidity of the COVID-19 pandemic and global response, PACE recommends closely following the advice of the CDC, International SOS, U.S. Department of State and local on-site contacts. As you're planning for your time abroad, be prepared for last minute changes in your ability to travel internationally and potential financial ramifications.
High-Risk Locations & Travel Advisory Suspension Appeals
All travel to a country and/or area designated as a “High-Risk Location” is restricted and requires an appeal to the campus International Risk Committee for Student Travel for permission to travel. Please note that the IRC may withdraw approval for international travel at any time based on changes in the security, health, or safety situation of a location. Additionally, the IRC may request a review of travel plans for approval at any time, regardless of the current US Department of State Travel Advisory level.
PACE will notify Education Abroad (EA) of all students proposing international travel. Notices are sent to EA as faculty mentors complete and submit the Mentor Endorsement form.
Students will be contacted by an EA representative and are expected to follow up in a timely manner—to start the International Travel Registration process, determine if additional compliance procedures are necessary and establish a timeline appropriate for their travel plans.
EA will notify PACE that students have started the International Travel Registration process and alert PACE if a student's travel plans require an appeal from the International Risk Committee (IRC).
PACE will send decision notices after EA confirms that students have started the registration process.
Students travelling to locations that do not require an appeal from the IRC may be issued payment before the travel registration process is completed.
Students travelling to locations that require an appeal from the International Risk Committee or additional compliance procedures will be issued payment only after their travel plan has been approved. Award offers will be withdrawn if a student's travel plans are not approved by the IRC. Students are responsible for notifying PACE of final IRC decisions.

I exercise my own free and voluntary choice to participate in the designated activity. I understand and assume all associated risks of the designated activity.
Despite careful and proper preparation, instruction, medical advice, conditioning and equipment, there is still a risk of serious injury when participating in any activity/program. Understandably, not all hazards and dangers can be foreseen.
Participants in a CU sponsored program must understand that depending upon the particular activity may include but not limited to: dangers and injuries due to natural occurrences beyond human control or influence, exposures to community spread illnesses or diseases, trips, falls, sprains, strains, contusions, lacerations, fractures, broken bones, paralysis, concussions, and all other circumstances inherent to these activities.
Use of a privately-owned vehicle, including the operation or as a passenger, may be an option while participating in the off-campus trip activity. The University of Colorado does not provide liability or physical damage insurance coverage on privately owned vehicles. The vehicle owner must provide the liability and physical damage insurance coverage for a privately owned vehicle.
The University of Colorado does not provide health insurance for individuals participating in activities made available or sponsored by the University of Colorado. As such, you or your personal health insurance will be responsible for payment of medical services and care for any injuries sustained during the designated activity.

Please review these terms and provide your acknowledgement and understanding of the enhanced risks associated with your destination so that you can make informed decisions and reduce the potential risks associated with travel.

I hereby give permission to the University of Colorado and its agents or employees, to use my name and major, my mentor's name and department/program, and related presentation, performance or exhibition information in any publication which may include printed or electronic media, or both.
I hereby relinquish any right to inspect or approve the completed product or products which may include advertising copy or any other printed or electronic matter that may be used in conjunction with them now or in the future, whether that use is known to me or unknown, and I waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising from or related to the use of the designated information.
