CU Boulder students undertaking university-related international travel (see the CU Boulder Policy on Student International Travel and Programs for a full definition) assume certain responsibilities for their travel plans. Refer to the International Travelers' Guide and the resources below as you plan your trip. In particular, you are responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring that the CU Boulder mandatory International Travel Registration process is complete. It is recommended that you begin this process 3 months prior to your departure.
  • Ensuring that you have fulfilled all requirements prior to departure, including registration in STEP (U.S. Department of State Smart Traveler Enrollment Program) and complying with entry requirements (such as visas) for the host destination.
  • Reviewing and monitoring the health & safety risks for your destination.
  • Knowing and abiding by the CU Boulder Policy on Student International Travel and Programs. If travel is planned to a high-risk destination identified within that policy, travel approval must be requested from the International Risk Committee and you are responsible for submitting a request at least 2 months prior to departure. Note that travel approval to high-risk destinations is up to the International Risk Committee and is not guaranteed.
  • Knowing the information provided in the International Travelers' Guide.
