The Niwot Ridge Long-Term Ecological Research program has been one of the largest research presences on Niwot Ridge since its inception in 1990.  Research themes of the program include the movement of energy and nutrients across the alpine-subalpine landscape, the influence of nitrogen pollution on ecosystems and hydrology, and the influence of climate on diversity and ecosystem function.  More information on the Niwot Ridge LTER Program website.
