Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde
- City Manager
I am an attorney by profession and currently serving the community as the City of Boulder's City Manager. I previously worked as Deputy City Manager in Austin, TX and served in various leadership roles in Minneapolis MN including City Coordinator (Their version of City Manager/Administrator). I would consider myself a change agent within the public sector and have been able to work on a variety of critical issues throughout my various municipalities that directly impact community such as minimum wage, homelessness, supplier diversity and small business support and development. I’ve also been deeply entrenched in municipal racial equity efforts and bridging trust with communities in moments of critical unrest. I have worked in the private sector and have started my own business, but found my calling in public service as I truly believe in the power of government to help improve lives and make systems work for all in community.
My advice to students...
I encourage students to get to know their government and the ways in which their voices can influence policies and programs in their community. I often tell young professionals that success is both opportunity and preparation, and that when they are called on to take on new challenges, they should lean into the “yes.”
