My personal biography/journey…
I was born in Denver, CO, where I currently live with my wife, Heather. We enjoy much of what the state offers, including camping, hiking, enjoying a night out with friends, and going to Red Rocks for a show. I graduated from George Washington high school, where I played basketball and earned a scholarship to play at the collegiate level.
I am grateful for the many transferable life and leadership skills my athletic background has provided, such as (not limited to) teamwork, working towards a common goal, learning how to work effectively with others, and unleashing and maximizing each individual's unique potential.
I come from a blended and biracial family, which gave me an early education in how differently two people can experience the same environment. That curiosity about self-view, worldview, and the stories people carry has stayed with me ever since.
My professional/coaching journey…
I have 15+ years of coaching, leadership, and non-profit experience. While working on a Master's in Communication and Leadership, one of my assignments was to find a leadership-based podcast and connect its content to the theories I was studying. I came across The Look and Sound of Leadership, where the host, an executive coach, narrated his conversations with clients. The more I listened, the more I recognized coaching as a calling rather than a career option.
The next step was hiring a coach of my own. I was fortunate to connect with an incredible coach I still work with today, and I would likely not be where I am without the power of that partnership.
My work primarily centers on self-leadership, grounded in the formal axiology (value science) of Dr. Robert S. Hartman, the science of how we determine what matters (e-value-weight). What I have found is that people rarely need better “how to" answers. They need a clearer view of the value that is already in front of them, and in themselves. The deeper work my clients and I explore together has led me to a second Master's, this time in Counseling at Regis University. I am also in coach education with RIHEL, and I have the good fortune of supporting Boettcher Foundation leaders and Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Leadership fellows. Alongside my practice, I lead the Valuesphere, a self-leadership development community for men.

Four words or succinct statements that describe my unique approach to life or recreation…
I return most often to Dr. Robert S. Hartman's Four Self Rules:
Know Yourself
Choose Yourself
Grow Yourself
Give Yourself
They take about ten seconds to read and a lifetime to practice, which I believe is the whole point!
