Born and raised in Cameroon, Almene is a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she works on AI safety, security, and alignment. Before beginning her PhD, she studied Physics, with a focus on electronics, electrical engineering, and automation, and also earned a degree in Data Science, which shaped her interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving. She serves as the Lead of Boulder Black Blossoms, a community program that supports and uplifts Black graduate women in STEM while fostering a sense of belonging. Almene is passionate about personal growth, continuous learning, and creating supportive spaces where others can thrive. In her free time, she enjoys working out and listening to music.
