Conmed Electrosurgery - Tissue Model for Vessel Sealing

Fall 2010 - Summer 2013. This project focuses on both modeling and experimental research. Modeling research will look at structural mechanics, heat transfer, and mass transport, with initial focus on structural mechanics and heat transfer. Experimental research will focus on measuring spatial and temporal heat profiles in the hand-piece and in the vessel during fusion, as well as bond strength via burst pressure tests, shear tests, and peel tests.
