Sustainable rivers and coasts in the tropics. Exploring relative sea-level changes, human-natural processes, and floodplain-delta-estuarine-fluvial morphodynamics.

I'm a geomorphologist/oceanographer, with training in morphodynamics. I'm interested in Earth-surface physical processes and landform evolution in fluvial, coastal, and deltaic environments. I combine field and remote sensing observations with statistical methods and mathematical models to understand morphodynamics across scales, from centimeter, subaqueous ripples driven by flow turbulence to Holocene relative sea-level changes and related kilometer-scale morphology evolution.

My studies can inform decision-makers about coastal and fluvial evolution trends, human activities' impacts, and hazards related to extreme events. I am an associate professor and chair of the Master's Program in Earth Sciences in the Area of Natural Systems and Sustainability at the School of Applied Sciences and Engineering at EAFIT University in Colombia.
