I study how acid mine drainage and acid rock drainage affect freshwater geochemistry and trace element behavior in the Colorado Mineral Belt, with a focus on rare earth elements.
My work combines field water sampling at remote field sites with trace metal analysis by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). I am interested in environmental geochemistry, biogeochemical cycling, and science outreach and conservation.
As an undergraduate I studied harmful algal blooms in the Great Lakes as well as analyzing dissolved organic matter dynamics over space and time in Arctic freshwater lakes. Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, fly fishing, making music, and playing recreational sports!
