Miles Hubble
PhD Student
Environmental History / Modern U.S.

Advisor: Professor Sutter • Miles Hubble is a PhD student specializing in the history of primitive living, prepping, and survivalist movements in modern North America. He graduated with honors from the University of Chicago with bachelor’s degrees in anthropology and media studies, which were followed by a master’s degree in communication from the University of Southern California Annenberg School. Their current research focuses on the place of nature in both Evangelical and secular eschatological praxis: nature as garden, refuge, and tactical redoubt.

Miles’s adjacent interests include mediations of nature in television and video games; the genealogy of modern gendered and psychiatric identities; and alternative revolutionary imaginaries — all of which are bound up in the (im)possibility of authentic desire.
