Benjamin Morton
MA Student
Medieval / Early Modern Europe

Advisor: Professor Dauverd • Benjamin grew up in Austin and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin with a focus in communications and art history. He served as a secondary education volunteer with the Peace Corps in Burkina Faso, West Africa and has since worked and served in many leadership roles in the nonprofit space. Benjamin is an MA student studying late medieval and early modern Europe. He is interested in exploring how diverse modes of communication were used by early modern rulers, both religious and secular, pertaining to concepts of divine ordinance.  He wishes to expand on how the shaping and targeting of these messages, especially that of imagery and ritual in England, had unique implications for disparate portions of the population.
