What’s been the best opportunity for you at CU?
One of the best opportunities I’ve gotten at CU has been the chance to engage in rigorous academic courses that really push me. These classes, such as my Ancient Roots of Modern Medicine class, have expanded the way I think, encouraging me to question the world around me, and sparked a deeper curiosity about the science in my everyday life. CU’s academically stimulating classes have given me the opportunity to evolve into an engaged thinker, both in my class rooms and society.
How has the BBC scholarship helped you?
This scholarship has given me financial relief and confidence to be able to focus on my studies and take part in work related to my major, allowing me to gain connections and experience that will contribute to my future plans for medical school. The BBC scholarship has also pushed me to do better in school, knowing that there are people who have confidence in my abilities and ambitions.
What are your future plans?
My long-term goal is to pursue a career as a physician specializing in rural medicine. I want to make a direct and meaningful impact on smaller communities and underserved/rural populations by providing accessible and affordable health care. My goal is to help prevent illnesses before they need to be treated, and to ensure that people, regardless of where they live, have the support they need to stay healthy.
