The 19th Elevations Credit Union Buffalo Bicycle Classic (BBC) is coming to CU Boulder on September 12, 2021
The 19th annual Elevations Credit Union Buffalo Bicycle Classic is right around the corner and we are thrilled to be able to host an in-person ride once again this year. The BBC attracts riders from across Colorado and nearby states. Riders can choose from one of nine fun and challenging courses across Boulder and Larimer counties, from the family-friendly 14 mile “Little Buff” to the 100 mile “Buff Epic” which takes riders westbound on a closed lane of Boulder Canyon and boasts over 7800 feet of climbing. All BBC riders are treated to a post-ride party at the finish area at Benson Lawn on the CU Boulder campus. Event organizers will comply with local and CU campus regulations regarding social distancing along with gathering size. We are planning for a safe and fun ride.
Supporting BBC Scholars: The BBC ride has raised over $3.4 million for high-merit/high-need scholarships for Colorado high school graduates since the ride was created in 2003. BBC scholars are Colorado high school graduates with GPA’s of 4.0 or above who have profound financial need, and many are first-generation college students. BBC Scholarships provide $12,000 or more spread over the students’ undergraduate career. Many BBC scholars would not have been able to attend the university without the support of our scholarship. BBC Scholars have an amazing 95% graduation rate, and 400 have graduated since 2003.
History of the BBC: The BBC was launched in 2003 by the College of Arts and Sciences and a team of volunteers as a fun bicycle ride designed to support merit/need-based scholarships for Colorado residents to attend the University of Colorado Boulder. The BBC began with 500 riders in 2003 and has since grown into the largest scholarship fundraising event in the State of Colorado. Elevations Credit Union has been a sponsor from the beginning.
