GENERAL STATEMENT/ ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Metro Wastewater Reclamation District in Denver, CO - a nationally recognized leader among
clean water utilities, provides wastewater conveyance and treatment services for 1.7 million people in
the Denver Metro area.
G eneral Statement of Duties & Organizational Responsibilities
Provides support to the Laboratory Quality Control and Contract Serv ices Programs. Provides technical
assistance in support of routine and special District processes and activities as they relate to the
Laboratory. Provides support to the Laboratory Safety Program. Works under the direction of the
Laboratory Support Supervisor.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. Develops or participates in the development of special sampling, testing, and study programs in
support of District operational processes, plant expansion design and construction, and in-line
monitoring.
2. Maintains various aspects of the Analytical Services LABWORKS computer system databases, and
works with Information Services on the design and implementation of new and improved LABWORKS
applications, and on the transfer of data to the Central Repository for distribution to other systems and
applications.
3. Coordinate s the day-to-day lab support activities related to established programs supporting routine
sampling, analytical, and process control programs.
4. Coordinates and ensures all laboratory activities r elated to the Biosolids Environmental Management
System are in compliance.
5. Provides technical suppo rt to the Contract Services Programs.
6. Provides and coordinates lab support through interaction with s taff members from other
departments regarding special studies and test programs.
7. Conducts new, difficult, and experimental testing prior t o transferring to the Analytical Division.
8. Performs a variety of other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in releva nt field (e.g., engineering, chemistry, biology, or related science) or
equivalent combination of experience and education (see below). Two years' experience as a Lab
Analyst I conducting routine and special analytical laboratory testing and studies on projects directly
related to wastewater treatment, solids processing and recycling activities. Demonstrated analytical
skills and the ability to independently solve complex problems. Ability to effectively communicate and
foster supportive working relations across multiple divisions and departments.
Equivalency
Equivalency e quals two years of directly related professional experience for every year of education not
completed. The stated experience requirement is in addition to any experience used to meet the
education equivalency. For this position, in addition to the required two years of analytical laboratory
testing experience related to wastewater treatment, solids processing, and recycling activities,
equivalency would be an Associate's Degree in Science plus 4 years of directly related professional
experience or 8 years of directly related lab experience without a degree.
Desired Qualifications
Prior experience interfaci ng with process control instrumentation for data extraction. Prior experience
using large relational databases employing standard statistical programs. Prior experience with
standard lab QA/QC protocols.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work Environment
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to wet and humid conditions, fumes or
airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
The employee is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places,
extreme cold and heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and vibration less than 1/3 of the time.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to talk or hear, reach with hands and
arms, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel more than 2/3 of the time; and to stand, walk, climb or
balance, and taste or smell 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. The employee is required to sit and stoop, kneel,
crouch, or crawl less than 1/3 of the time. The employee must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds 1/3 to
2/3 of the time and up to 50 pounds less than 1/3 of the time. Specific vision abilities required by the
job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
