Five CU Faculty members are conducting research on 4 different projects in Antarctica!

EVEN professors Dr. Diane McKnight (3rd from the left) and Dr. Michael Gooseff (2nd from the right) have been studying the McMurdo Dry Valleys – the largest ice-free region in Antarctica, for over 20 years.  Dr. McKnight and her team are studying the algae and diatom communities of the glacial meltwater streams.  Dr. Gooseff, who is the lead PI of the McMurdo Long Term Ecological Research project, leads a team that runs a network of 18 stream gauges in the valleys, and another that studies the glaciers in the valleys.
