Engineering Support Technician (Intern)

(This internship is expected to last throughout the summer or until the fall 2016 school semester begins)

Colorado Springs Utilities Wastewater Resource Recovery Facilities (WRRF) unit has an excellent internship opportunity for a current Engineering student. Primary duties will include supporting engineering and wastewater treatment staff on special projects.

Primary projects and responsibilities may include:

  • Gather and organize technical information on existing equipment
  • Compile information and assist in preparation of a facility condition assessment
  • Assist with data collection and analysis to complete a wastewater integrated master plan
  • Assist with managing a studies and alternatives analysis phase of the project to implement beneficial use of biogas from anaerobic digesters. This will also include conducting a research to obtain grants for full scale implementation of one of the alternatives
  • Conduct an in-depth analysis of the aeration system and assist with alternatives analysis to replace the existing aeration system component(s)
  • Assist with construction related activities (engineering and project management) on a $10 million biological nutrient removal project
  • Assist with other engineering support tasks related to creek crossing projects, data analysis for updating a wastewater collection system model, process improvements at the existing WRRF
