Instructional faculty with the titles of Instructor (Assistant Teaching Professor), Senior Instructor (Associate Teaching Professor), Principal Instructor (Full Teaching Professor), Scholar in Residence or Professor of Engineering Practice appointed in the College of Engineering and Applied Science, who have completed six continuous years (12 semesters) in one of the eligible titles above, at 50% time appointment or greater, will be eligible to apply for a differentiated workload for one semester. The differentiated workload will reduce the formal (course) teaching responsibilities of the instructional faculty to zero for that semester.
For academic year 2022-23, faculty should work with their department chair/program director immediately to discuss the feasibility of using this benefit for spring 2023. In future academic years, the deadline for submission of the CEAS Differentiated Workload Application will be one year in advance of the proposed differentiated workload semester (e.g., August 15, 2022, for fall semester 2023 and January 1, 2023, for spring semester 2024). For more information, visit the policy for one-semester differentiated workload webpage.
