CEAS Staff Peer Recognition Program

Developed by the Engineering Staff Council (ESC) in collaboration with Human Resources and college leadership, the CEAS Staff Peer Recognition Program empowers staff to celebrate colleagues through their teamwork, innovation, service and commitment to the CEAS community.

Why we're launching this

The College of Engineering and Applied Science is powered by people who make a difference every day, often behind the scenes. This program provides a simple and meaningful way to say "thank you" and celebrate colleagues whose contributions reflect the college's values of collaboration, equity and community, helping make CEAS a more supportive, connected and rewarding place to work.

How it works

  • Who can nominate: Any CEAS staff member
  • Who can be nominated: All eligible CEAS staff — university staff, classified staff, research staff and temporary professionals
  • Self-nominations: Not permitted; this is a peer-driven program
  • What's recognized: Going above and beyond, boosting team morale or efficiency, providing steady support or leadership and collaborative problem-solving
  • The Award: A $20 CEAS-approved gift card, distributed on a rolling basis throughout the academic year and funded by CEAS HR
  • Award Limit: Two awards per staff member, per academic year
  • Review Process: All nominations are reviewed and approved by CEAS HR to ensure they align with program criteria and are applied equitably across units

Guiding Principles

The program is built on four core values:

  2. Transparency: Clear criteria, timelines, and review processes
  3. Peer-Driven: Nominations come from colleagues, not supervisors alone
  4. Recognition with Dignity: Positive, respectful acknowledgment

Submit Peer Recognition Nomination

Who can submit a nomination?
Any CEAS staff member may submit a nomination to recognize an eligible colleague.

Who can be nominated?
All eligible CEAS staff members, including university staff, classified staff, research staff, and temporary professionals.

Can I nominate myself?
No. Self‑recognitions are not permitted. The program is designed to be peer‑driven.

How often can someone receive recognition?
A staff member may receive two Peer Recognition awards per academic year and may only be recognized once for the same contribution.

How are nominations reviewed?
All submissions are reviewed and approved by CEAS Human Resources to ensure alignment with program criteria and equity across units.

How are recipients notified?
Awardees are notified directly by CEAS HR. Recognition may also be shared through CEAS newsletters, events, or unit communications, as appropriate.
