You must complete the following courses on the CU Boulder campus with a C or better.

  • Math (two courses): Choose two courses from the following:
    • APPM 1350 (or MATH 1300, or APPM 1340+1345)
    • APPM 1360 (or MATH 2300)
      • CSCI 2820 and/or CSCI 2824 can count, if Calc 1 and 2 were previously completed (e.x. through AP credit, or transfer credit)
      • MATH 2130 and MATH 2001 can also be used to satisfy the math courses for IUT and degree requirements

  • Computer Science (two courses): Must be the following two courses at a minimum. Note: If bringing equivalent transfer credit for courses below and do not wish to retake, the student may substitute for higher-level CSCI courses:
    • CSCI 1300
    • CSCI 2270

Additional notes:

  • Transfer credit (including AP/IB coursework) does not apply to IUT admission requirements.
  • All technical coursework applicable for IUT must receive a grade of C or better (e.g., MATH 2001, CSCI 2820, etc.).
  • If you have taken coursework, at UCD or UCCS, your grades from those courses will carry over to CU Boulder but will not factor into IUT admission GPA requirements; IUT admission is based on CU Boulder coursework only.

Additional admission criteria:

  1. No more than 60 attempted credit hours from CU Boulder with final grades posted to your transcript (W grades excluded) at the START of the semester you complete your final IUT requirement(s). If you are beyond the credit hour maximum, you cannot apply. Please see the FAQ section's "What if I am (or will be) over the 60 credit hour criteria?" for further clarification.
    • AP/IB or transfer coursework is NOT included; only credits accumulated on the CU Boulder campus.
  2. Minimum CU Boulder cumulative GPA of a 2.500 required for admission.
  3. Minimum CU Boulder Computer Science GPA of a 3.000 required for admission.
    • The Computer Science GPA is any CU Boulder CSCI, or CSPB prefixed course
  4. All coursework is used in computing these GPAs (including repeated courses) unless approved through the official university grade replacement policy.
  5. With the exception of coursework taken at CU Boulder in Spring 2020, if a science/technology/engineering/math (S.T.E.M.) course allows a student to choose their grading basis (e.g. Letter Grade versus Pass/Fail), students may not choose the Pass/Fail option if they intend to IUT to the College of Engineering and Applied Science. If the grading option is only Pass/Fail (e.g., APPM 1351), that is permissible for purposes of IUT. Please see the FAQ section for additional information.

NOTE: Credit hours from all course attempts (W's excluded) will count towards the 60 credit hour limit, including all attempts of repeated courses (this includes grade replacement).
e.g. CSCI 1300 (grade C- or lower) = 4 credit hours.  CSCI 1300 (grade C- or lower) + repeated CSCI 1300 (grade C or higher) = 8 credit hours
