I have a varied background both educationally and professionally. After earning a doctorate, I taught Technical Writing and Computer Applications at Western Michigan and Grambling State Universities. I returned to education as a student to earn a second Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and opened a private Psychotherapy and Mediation practice in Washington state. After closing the practice in 2002, I was employed as a Senior Staff Counselor at the University of Vermont (UVM) working with both undergraduate and graduate students. While at UVM, I graduated from the Vermont State Fire Academy and joined the Essex Junction Fire Department as a Firefighter/First Responder. I left counseling and Vermont to try the public sector as a Communication Director in Georgia, and during that time graduated from the Police Academy. But higher education started calling again. I joined CU Boulder’s CEAS Academic Advising Team in 2012 and I’m super happy to be here!

For fun, I have danced on Broadway, been in a full-length film, and am a drummer in Old’s Cool Rock, a 60s/70s rock band, and when possible likes to act in community theatre productions and every so often dabbles in standup comedy. I am an animal lover, motorcycle rider, and can be a pretty fun person to hang out with.
