I am originally from Wisconsin and grew up in a musical family, so I decided to complete a Bachelor of Music in Vocal and General Music Education at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Over the twelve years I was teaching and directing high school fine arts programs, I recognized my love of listening to students talk about who they wanted to be and what they wanted to accomplish. I decided to pursue a Master of Arts in Adult Education at Alverno College and transitioned to work in higher education. I moved to Colorado in 2019 to work as an Academic Advisor at CU Boulder and discovered a NEW passion - academic coaching! I held previous coaching roles in other colleges at CU Boulder, and now I am delighted to be a part of the Student Support and Advising Services Team in the College of Engineering and Applied Science! The message that I aim to model and deliver to all students is that life is not linear. Rather, it comprises of twists and turns, and the most important practices are to remain curious and show yourself compassion. That allows us to find joy and grant ourselves permission to change! I am very passionate about supporting campus-wide efforts towards equity and inclusion, and stand with undocumented students, staff, and their families. I also acknowledge that CU Boulder sits upon land within the territories of the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapaho peoples.
