Fall Protection

Falls are among the most common causes of serious work-related injuries and deaths. Employees working at heights over 6 feet require fall protection.

EH&S manages the Fall Protection Program for campus and provides guidance on fall protection through safe design, hazard elimination, engineering controls, safe work practices, training, and personal protective equipment, when necessary. If a fall hazard cannot be eliminated, effective fall protection will be planned, implemented, and monitored to control the risks of injury due to falling.

If you need to work from heights over 6 feet or if you use fall protection equipment, you must take Comprehensive Fall Protection Training. This training is required every 2 years. If you conduct annual inspections of fall protection equipment (harnesses, lanyards, etc.) you need to take Certified Equipment Inspector Training. Sign up for these trainings on the right side of this page. If there are no sessions available, please reach out to EHS.
