Tutorial: Filter YouTube Results by Captioned Videos
When selecting a video to show in class, it's important to select videos that have human-edited captions rather than just YouTube auto-generated captions, which are created by an algorithm and are generally less accurate than human captions.
When searching on YouTube, you can select the "Filters" button underneath the search bar at the top of the page.
Select the "Subtitles/CC" option under the Features column in the Filters panel.
You can verify if a video has human-edited captions in the search results by ensuring that there is a "CC" icon in the video description.
When possible, avoid selecting videos that only have "English (auto-generated)" captions available; these are created by a machine learning algorithm and are generally less accurate than human-edited captions (which are typically labeled "English").
