He is especially interested in the modern reception of Roman imperial power and its influence on contemporary politics and culture. His previous research explored the formation of Greco-Roman literary stereotypes regarding ancient Syria, the writings of the second-century author Lucian of Samosata, and the historical accounts of the third-century emperor Elagabalus’ reign.
