Research Interests

The Fierer Lab explores the distribution and roles of microscopic organisms in diverse environments and the relevance of microbes to the health and function of ecosystems, plants, and animals (including humans). Our current work focuses on the ecology of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and archaea in both natural and engineered systems including soil, buildings, insects, plants, and the atmosphere.
