John received an M.S. in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado Boulder. He received a B.S. in Nutrition from East Tennessee State University. He entered IQ Biology through the Department of Integrative Physiology. John completed his first lab rotation in Catherine Lozupone's lab in the Division of Biomedical Informatics & Personalized Medicine at Anschutz Medical Campus. He completed his second lab rotation in Noah Fierer's lab in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. John completed his third lab rotation in Nichole Reisdorph's lab at Anschutz Medical Campus. For his team rotation, John worked with three other IQ students in Luke Evans' (Ecology and Evolutionary Biology), Maggie Stanislawski's (Anschutz Medical Campus), and Chris Gignoux's (Anschutz Medical Campus) labs. In June 2022, John joined the Lowry Lab.
