Ryan Driskell Tate is a Ph.D. candidate in American history at Rutgers University. He is defending his dissertation “The Saudi Arabia of Coal: The Making of America’s Energy Frontier, 1965-1995” in Fall 2019. He is currently a lecturer at St Xavier University in Chicago and co-host of the New Books in the American West podcast on the New Books Network. His work has appeared in the Washington Post, The Progressive, In These Times, and other national and scholarly publications.
