The Center of the American West has been asked by the National Park Service to help them grapple with the legacy of a writer named Zane Grey. Our goal is to engage Native peoples’ perspectives of, experiences with, and creative responses to Zane Grey’s literature and/or the myths Zane Grey’s literature contributed to in the United States and beyond. To seek to offer a more expansive interpretive lens for visitors to the Zane Grey Museum that fully recognizes the Native peoples Zane Grey depicted and the broader implications of Zane Grey’s work for Native peoples (i.e. the lasting effects of the myths of the American West and the myths of Native peoples in the United States)
