The Center is proud to welcome David Treuer as the sixth guest in our Modern Indian Identity series. This series features contemporary Indian speakers telling their stories in ways that shatter misconceptions on what it means to be a “Real Indian.” Treuer is an Ojibwe Indian from Leech Lake Reservation in northern Minnesota. He is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to Canada, a Pushcart Prize, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. He is the author of the novel The Translation of Dr. Apelles and the essay collection Native American Fiction: A User’s Manual.
