Lien Amin is a PhD student at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she studies the intersections of science, culture, and identity. She holds a master’s in teaching and a bachelor’s in biology. A former high school science teacher and field biologist, Lien uses Socio-Cultural and Critical Race Theories to analyze how people experience science. Her research includes a Space Weather curriculum project and exploring how football can serve as a cultural entry point to STEM. Lien is inspired by scholars like Kimberlé Crenshaw, Dr. Rasheda Likely, Dr. Ebony McGee, Dr. Victoria Hand, and Dr. Na'ilah Nasir. As a descendant of slaves and immigrants, she honors the love, sacrifice, and wisdom of her family in her academic and personal journey. Outside of research, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family. Lien is committed to making science more inclusive and culturally relevant, especially for communities historically excluded from STEM spaces.
