Comprehension-based Communicative Language Teaching Workshop

Come join Merete Leonhardt-Lupa from the Department of Germanic & Slavic Languages & Literatures, recipient of the 2019 travel grant in the ALTEC Faculty Fellow program, as she shares her takeaways from the 2019 ACTFL Conference and describes how she has used some of the learnings in her intermediate-level Swedish language class. The focus will be on skills used in comprehension-based communicative language teaching (CCLT), which favors a learning environment rich in comprehensible input and the interpretation and expression of meaning. The format of this presentation is a mock Swedish lesson (no Swedish language skills required to participate), in which attendants can experience and discuss ideas promoted at the conference.
