A collaboration with private and nonprofit designers and others, this project examines opportunities to sustain or expand mobile home parks in Boulder City and County. This project focuses on design and structural solutions for remodeling of mobile home parks addressing issues of environmental risk and livability (e.g., flooding, heat, cold, poor indoor air quality, and poor access to open space and urban services), and related coping strategies for low-income residents (e.g., income generation, reliance on social networks, advocacy strategies). The work plan includes social analysis, map and physical documentation, development of design solutions and interviews with residents.
