Alumni Career Advisors

CU Boulder Alumni Career Services offers one-on-one career advising appointments for Forever Buffs. Whether you’re updating your resume, improving your LinkedIn profile, preparing for interviews, negotiating a salary, changing careers or planning for retirement, our career advisors are here to help.

Advising for recent graduates

Recent graduates receive free, unlimited career advising for one year after graduation, followed by two free career advising appointments each year for life. 

Advising for general alumni

All CU Boulder alumni are eligible for two free career advising appointments per calendar year. Additional appointments are available for $30 per session. 

Virtual Advising Groups

Connect with fellow Forever Buffs and receive expert career guidance through our virtual advising groups. These interactive sessions are designed to support alumni at every stage of their career journey, from exploring new opportunities to strengthening job search materials and building momentum.

First Step Connect: Alumni Careers

First Step Connect: Alumni Careers is an introductory virtual group for alumni who want to learn more about CU Boulder Alumni Career Services and the resources available to support their career development. 

Whether you’re beginning a job search, considering a career transition or exploring your next step, you’ll receive an overview of career advising, job search resources, networking opportunities, career assessments and other tools available through CU Boulder. Participants also can connect with fellow alumni, ask questions and create a plan for moving forward. 

Award-winning program: In recognition of its innovation and impact, First Step Connect: Alumni Careers received the 2026 Impact Award from the Alumni Career Services Network (ACSN) for its success in connecting alumni with career resources, fostering community and supporting career transitions. 

Resume Refresh

Resume Refresh is a virtual advising group that helps Forever Buffs strengthen their resumes for today’s job market. 

Participants learn current resume best practices, strategies for tailoring resumes to specific positions, ways to showcase transferable skills and techniques for creating AI- and applicant tracking system (ATS)-friendly resumes. The session also includes opportunities for questions, peer feedback and practical improvements in a supportive environment. 

Career Momentum

Career Momentum is an ongoing virtual advising group designed to help alumni stay motivated and make steady progress toward their professional goals. 

Whether you’re actively searching for a job, exploring a career change or working toward your next professional milestone, Career Momentum provides accountability, peer support, networking guidance and practical job search strategies. Participants can share successes, navigate challenges together and build confidence throughout their career journey.
