Each year, the college recognizes excellent faculty with the honorific "Professor of Distinction." This prestigious title is reserved for scholars and artists of national and international distinction who are also recognized by their college peers as teachers and colleagues of exceptional talent.
In the spring of 2017, the University of Colorado Boulder created a new level of distinction for instructional faculty—"teaching professor." As of 2022, there have been 21 professorships awarded.
